Everytime I try to rewire Ableton 9 64 bit as a slave to Logic X Please quit both the current ReWire master application and Live, and then launch Live once as a standalone application so that it can install its ReWire engine. I have done this and it doesn't work. I tried moving both ReWire folders from Propellerheads Software folder in application support folder from both my username and the system libraries and starting Ableton 9 as standalone, but still no luck there.
I'm at a loss for what to do. If anyone has any help for me that would be most appreciated. I am running Live 9. Perhaps that is why this is still not working. I wonder if I manually reinstall rewire itself that might help. If anyone has any other ideas that would be very helpful. That's the same message I was getting some months ago. Thank you very much Jordi and CCT for responding so quickly - people like you help other people immeasurably by devoting time to these forums.
Glad to hear updating to Live 9. I was looking for an answer to a similar problem. I have both 32bit and 64bit Live versions installed. Deleting the 32bit ReWire aliases worked for me. Thanks a million! My problem is the opposite to this post so maybe you can help or point me in the right direction?
I managed to get LPX to run as rewire master but I can't run it as a slave. I've followed the steps above and checked all the common suggestions. Logic Pro You can post now and register later. Avid recently just released Eucon 3. Jordi Torres Posted March 7, Posted April 14, Posted May 14, Updating to Configure Audio Preferences in Live to recognize Soundflower as its audio input. This tutorial uses the channel Loopback device configured above.
Use smaller buffer sizes if latency becomes an issue for live performance. Note that sample sizes and sample rates are set in Loopback, Live and Logic. Since Soundflower has selected as the global audio-input source for Live in Preferences, the channel selections will all refer to Soundflower. The single-number options refer to single channels, the options with two vertical bars refer to stereo pairs. The stereo pairs are the likely choice in most situations. Set the global Audio Output device to the Loopback device.
The 32 channel version is used in this setup. The steps in this section are to overcome the somewhat wonky multi-channel MIDI routing in Logic and are not required for driving a single channel in Logic from Live. Projects default to listening to all instruments. This causes endless trouble with MIDI loops. Here are the steps:. Click on this photo to get a full-sized version — note that all channels are armed for recording, and each has a different MIDI channel assigned as seen with the light number in brackets immediately to the right of each track name.
Use the Mixer window to assign audio channels to tracks in Logic. This is only required for multi-channel configurations. Test the configuration. Notes should sound in Logic on the tracks corresponding to the ones that have been record-armed in Live. Bring each external controller back into the Live configuration one at a time and iron out any wrinkles that may appear.
Push or Komplete Kontrol. Debugging all possible problems with external controllers is beyond the scope of this post.
This is true. Logic is grabs those controllers away from Live when it starts. I have no fix, only a workaround. Use this dual-DAW configuration sparingly, then shut down Logic and complete your production in Live by itself.

Zip archive of the revised Logic and Live templates Excellent video introduction to the Loopback software I highly recommend you watch this video which, at about minute 3, walks you through setting up a two-channel audio connection between Logic and Live that is exactly the same as what this tutorial shows.

By foreststone , February 20, in Logic Pro. I am unable to get Ableton Live to launch in rewire slave mode on one of my machines. Both Logic No Rewire slave applications will be available for use with Live unless you quit the current Rewire master application and restart Live. Only Logic won't allow Live 9 to launch in rewire slave mode. I've tried deleting preferences and reinstalling Ableton and also tried setting the Rewire playback mode in Logic but still keep getting that message.
On my laptop I do not have this problem. Mac mini 3. If you open Logic by itself and create an aux channel strip in the mixer, can you see Ableton Live's Rewire buses available as input options? Quit Logic and Live.
Try moving the Rewire folders to the Desktop then running Live standalone to get it to reinstall it's Rewire files. Then Quit Live, start Logic, start Live. Yep, that's one of the things I tried but still can't remember if that's what took care of it I do see ableton rewire as an option when creating both an aux bus and ext midi track. It's strange since Cubase and Pro Tools can both trigger Ableton to recognize that it should launch in Slave mode. Something tells me that Logic is not do something when I set the Rewire Behavior setting in the preferences.
